It has been reported in HVP that fellow organisations, the Worshipful Company of Plumbers (WCP) and the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) have joined forces with the CIPHE to create the Leadwork Conservation Network Group. It comes out of concern that the skills shortage situation could worsen as colleges no longer teach lead plumbing, an essential skill for repairs to historical buildings. Officially launched 15th May at the House of Lords, the group is expected to work with established conservation organisations and government departments in an attempt to set new professional conservation standards.

Commenting on the new partnership, Chief Executive, Kevin Wellman explains that it is very worrying that leadwork has been dropped from the curriculum for plumbing standards.
