LIHUE Feng Shui is much more than just knowing how to improve home decor.

Feng Shui is really a science as well as an art, said Dora Hong, who is helping organize a Feng Shui benefit workshop featuring Grand Master Hong Liu, who was proclaimed a Living Treasure by the Hawaii State Legislature.

The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Happiness Planting Center, located at 3343 Kanakolu St. in Lihue at the building that once housed the former Immaculate Conception School.

The Feng Shui workshop is a benefit for the Lawai International Center, a non-profit organization constructing a replica of a 13th century Japanese temple, the only such temple in the Pacific Region.

Providing practical

everyday tools for enhancing prosperity for health, finances, romance and family, the workshop presents all of this within the framework of the 5,000-year-old Feng Shui traditions.

Organizer Dora Hong said the workshop also explains how Feng Shui is set in cycles, so things need to be rearranged in the home and on someones person to affect energies either positively or negatively and then how to remedy situations with negative energy.

Participants will gain an understanding from Grand Master Hong of the energetic influences to be experienced during the Year of the Snake.

One of just a few Qi Gong Grand Masters in the United States, he is the only one with centers in Hawaii.

Hong trained in China as a physician in Western medicine and reached the highest attainable level in Qi Gong in 35 years by mastering the seven systems of Qi Gong, which include healing, intelligence, self-healing, martial arts, herbology, spiritual practices and special abilities.
