A 166-unit apartment complex and 59 ranch-style patio homes may be coming soon to roughly 22 acres of land just east of Middletown near the Parklands of Floyds Fork.

Sunshine English Station Development LLC, a Louisville-based company, filed an application with the city Monday to rezone the land at 1007 S. English Station Road. This would allow the company to construct multifamily units.

According to the application, there will be eight three-story mutlifamily buildings constructed as part of the project. The plan calls for 26 one-bedroom, 106 two-bedroomand 34 three-bedroom units, according to Damon Garrett, a managing member with Sunshine English Station Development LLC.

The apartments will cost anywhere between $950 and $1,400, Garret said. They will come with granite countertops and washer/dryer hookups, among other things.

Additionally, the patio homes will be in the $300,000 to $400,000 range and have "more of a craftsman look," according to Garrett, who added that they will be composed of a mixture of brick and stones. Some homes will feature walkout basements.

Everythings going to be designed with the pure aesthetics of the neighborhood," Garrett told The Courier Journal.

In an effort to make the apartment complex and patio homes a community, there will be several amenities, such as a two-story clubhouse with a fitness center, outdoor grills and a nature trail.

Garrett said he did not have an exact cost estimate at the moment. He hopes to get the zoning application approved by the city by July and August and immediately start work from there, with a two- to2 1/2-year timeline for finishing the project.

For those in the area who would like to learn more about the project, a neighborhood meeting has been scheduled for March 17.
