OhioHealth ready to start $4 million renovation in Dublin – ThisWeek Community News

Patients at the OhioHealth Physician Group Primary Care office at 250 W. Bridge St. will have additional services and staff available following a $4 million renovation expected to start the beginning of next month.

In January 2018, OhioHealth acquired the Dublin Family Care medical practice and a building that was constructed in 1976, said Joseph Campana, director of practice and development with the OhioHealth Physician Group.

OhioHealth planned the renovation, which addresses the interior and exterior of the building, because of the growth in its northern Franklin-Delaware counties market, Campana said.

"It is important for OhioHealth to continue providing great care to our patients close to home," he said. "Increased access to primary care is essential in the Dublin market."

New staffing for the building will include two physicians, one advanced-practice provider (a term for a provider that could include nurse practitioners, physician assistants and others) and four associates, Campana said.

"As of now, this is the number; there may be more as the project gets underway," he said.

The building's first floor includes a four-physician general practice now, Campana said.

After the renovation, the first floor will be a 20-room primary-practice designed for growth and improved clinical workflow.

Additional services also will be offered as part of the first-floor primary care practice, Campana said, in the areas of behavioral health, diabetes and high blood pressure. A nurse also will be available to follow up with patients who have been discharged from hospitals and emergency departments, he said.

In addition to enhancing an existing outpatient lab on the second floor, OhioHealth will add a 14-room outpatient pulmonary care practice and an X-ray machine, Campana said.

Renovations also will include the addition of an elevator at the front of the building, said OhioHealth director of construction Mike MacKay. Although the building already has an elevator, it isn't easily accessed by patients, he said.

"This is going to allow for a better patient access," he said.

OhioHealth will complete the renovation in two six-month phases so that the building can remain open to patients during the project, MacKay said.

The project is expected to be finished in April 2021, Campana said.
