He claimed that he replaced two parts in her broken clothes dryer.

Upper Makefield police allege he did nothing but cash the check for the repairs.

A Larkspur Lane resident reported in mid-January that she contacted an appliance repair company three days before Christmas after she noticed a problem with her dryer, police said in a news release. The company sent a subcontractor, All Type Mechanical, of Philadelphia.

The company owner, Edward Miller, 24, of Philadelphia, went to the house and told the woman the machines belt tension arm and fuse needed to be replaced. He claimed he replaced both parts, and provided the homeowner a bill. The homeowner wrote him a check that Miller cashed, police said.

Flash forward a few days the dryer started acting up again. The woman tried to call Miller and All Type Mechanical, but was unsuccessful, police said. She called the repair agency and it sent out a different subcontractor.

The second repairman inspected the machine and found neither the fuse or belt tension arm were new. He suspected Miller made a temporary fix by spraying a lubricant on the belt to quiet it, police said.

Miller was charged by summons last month with misdemeanor deceptive business practices, theft by deception and receiving stolen property.
