MyHome Completes Upper West Side Apartment Renovation

MyHome, the Manhattan-based renovation company, recently completed a total apartment renovation at 130 West 67th Street in Manhattan. The project was designed by senior MyHome Remodeling Consultant,Ben Pitt. Pitt and his team were tasked with completely transforming a dated, post-war floorplan into an open and vibrant design that reflected his clients contemporary tastes.

This was accomplished by removing the kitchen walls to create an open floorplan with a 2-tiered counter-bar and expanding the bathroom into an otherwise unused long hallway. The kitchen utilizes the same high-end frameless grey-striated thermofoil and black quartz-composite countertops that reappear throughout the apartment in the built-in entrance dry bar, bathroom storage and living room built-in. The design is further unified by the cognac-stained fossilized bamboo floors throughout and the watermelon-red shoji screens (previously painted black, the only pre-renovation feature that the designer suggested keeping).

Above the built-in living room cabinetry is a custom designed, 1 thick floating open-backed shelving unit spray-finished in powder-coat black that extends over a small built-in home office at end of cabinetry. Pitt suggested that the kitchen and bar cabinetry, which are visible from living room, should be broken up with some aluminum-framed frosted glass wall cabinet doors and a luminescent glass mosaic backsplash of purples, blues and greys.

The newly expanded bathroom features an 8 tall white-glass entrance door to allow in natural light, an electric towel warmer and plenty of storage in its floating vanity with custom countertop-banjo shelf and shallow-depth linen cabinet. The sleek porcelain tiles change from black to white at the shower entrance and the large custom-size shower stall accommodates a corner shower bench. The frameless clear glass sliding shower door, with its minimum hardware, is a welcome finishing touch.

MyHome was founded in 2001 by managing partner Yoel Piotraut. The company, which is based in New York City, has a team of fifteen consultants, designers and managers. MyHomes New York City kitchen and bath showroom is located at 353 West 48th Street in Manhattan. Ben Pitt has been working with MyHome since 2003. He previously worked as an industrial designer, designing kitchen products for companies such as KitchenAid and Cuisinart after graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design.
