Q: Im a taller man, and I would like to have my bathroom vanity countertop a little higher than normal for extra comfort.

Do I have to find someone to custom build my vanity base or build a platform on the floor? Any easier ideas are welcome!

A: In most cases, floor-mounted bathroom vanity bases are prebuilt to standard heights. However, if youre installing a wall-hung bathroom sink without a base cabinet, usually you can make plans to raise the sink up a few inches higher if needed.

If you prefer the full vanity base cabinet, you should be able to order one that is made to be mounted on the wall at any level.

This version has several features that a floor-mounted vanity does not, including extra foot room under the unit and a sleek-looking design. You will still have plenty of storage, and can choose from a range of vanity sink tops.

If you follow your local building codes, a wall-hung vanity can take your bathroom remodeling plans to a whole new level.
