Officers responded to a home on Bonaparte Point Drive in Hopatcong for a reported burglary on Sept. 25.

The victim stated that a check that she didn't write was cashed and it made her account overdrawn. She then noticed Jewelry was missing. Neighbors of the victim previously saw the victims handyman enter her home, officials said.

The handyman, Wallace Krake, 36, of Landing, had a key to the home but was not scheduled to do any work. Det. Sutphen interviewed Krake and found that he reportedly took the check and made it out to cash for $200. He also took diamonds from the victims bedroom dresser. Krake agreed to return the diamonds. He was processed, charged two counts of burglary, two counts of theft and one count of forgery and later released, police said.
