Paving of the east side of Carpenter Road is scheduled to begin today, Sept. 25, and will limit driveway access to the east side of the road while the concrete pavement is being placed.

The east side of the northbound lane will be paved Thursday and, depending on the weather, paving of the outside lanes is scheduled for the remainder of the week. Paving will begin at the Washtenaw Avenue intersection and continue south to the Packard Road intersection.

Once that process is complete, the contractor is scheduled to begin work on the concrete curb and gutter, driveways and the sidewalk.

Earlier this month, work on the five-lane road was shifted as the west side of the road was paved and the project entered stage two. Construction of the road has left one lane open in both directions.

Lane closures remain the same for the project and an alternate route for traffic is suggested using Packard Road, Golfside Road, and Washtenaw Avenue.

The project began late after a mix-up in paperwork delayed the start of construction. The project is expected to last until November.
