An Albuquerque man said New Mexico Air and Solar convinced him to pay for services he feels he didn't need. The company is now the subject of numerous complaints and investigations by the New Mexico Attorney Generals Office and the Regulation and Licensing Department.

Salih Rahman said he bought an air duct-cleaning deal on Amazon Local for $49, months ago. He contacted the company listed on the deal, US Air Solutions, to set up an appointment. Ronnie Sampson, the supposed owner of New Mexico Air and Solar, showed up at his home instead in early June.

"You know when something simple turns into something complex? To me, that brings up a red flag," Rahman said.

He said Sampson told him he needed repair work to his refrigerated air unit and new pipes around it, in addition to the air duct-cleaning.

"It would have been around a thousand dollars," Rahman said.

He said he was suspicious because he bought his home, when it was new, in 2006. The major components in the home, including the refrigerated air system, are still under warranty.

Still, Rahman wrote a check to New Mexico Air and Solar for a little more than $300 for additional furnace and air service.

After he called a friend, then discovered numerous complaints against the company, he immediately stopped payment on the check.

Unfortunately, John and Tammy Kirschman spent $7,700 on a new refrigerated air and heating system around the same time. The heater is partially installed. The refrigerated air unit never arrived. The temperature in their home sometimes exceeds 90-degrees.
