In the city of Wichita Falls, soliciting door to door is legal as long as you have a city permit.

You can expect to see a rise in people peddling products around town and probably some without the proper permit.City officials say springtime is when more sales people start going door to door.

Their goal is to make money and one restaurant owner learned people will do whatever it takes to make a sale.

Deli Planet owners say surveillance video shows a salesman demonstrating a cleaning product on the restaurant carpet, despite the owner telling him she didn't want it.

He did it when her back was turned, apparently putting a smiley face on the carpet with a liquid substance and then trying to remove the stain with his wonder cleaner that did not measure up.

So they called the Idaho based company, Pro Tek to complain.

"They promised they were gonna take away the happy face and completely with their cleaner, clean our floor and show us how wonderful their cleaner was and make up for a salesman's mistake," says Rebecca Rutledge, owner of Deli Planet.

But Rutledge says the carpet got worse and Pro Tek sent an email saying they're not responsible for the actions of independent salespeople that buy and sell their products.

The Wichita Falls city clerk says sales people claiming to be with Pro Tek also came knocking at her door.

"When I wouldn't let them in to spray the product on my carpet in my house they wanted to use it on my car. I told them no and to go away or I would call the police," says Tracy Norr, city clerk for the city of Wichita Falls.
