READINGTON TWP. Two Bound Brook men were charged by township police with possession of heroin with intent to distribute it on Saturday, May 17. At 12:25 a.m. police stopped a vehicle on Route 22 for alleged failure to stay in its lane. The driver was Irvin Cook, 26, and the passenger was Shane Jennings, 23. The officer smelled marijuana inside the vehicle and discovered drug paraphernalia, police said. Both of the occupants were charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and warrants for their arrests were discovered. According to police, Cook was also charged with hindering apprehension for providing false information and was lodged in the Hunterdon County Jail on his warrants. Heroin was also found on his person, police said. After obtaining a search warrant, police found in the vehicle 26 decks of heroin, a baggie of marijuana, a scale and baggies used to package drugs.
