SAVOY For the first time in five years, the Showcase of Homes will return this summer, giving area residents a chance to tour seven newly built houses.

The event, coordinated by the Home Builders Association of East Central Illinois, will take place June 20-29 in Savoy's Prairie Meadows subdivision.

"Judging from the early response from the community, it's going to be an outstanding comeback for the Showcase of Homes," said Nicole Thompson of McGuire Custom Homes, the association's president.

Seven builders are taking part: Kennedy Builders, Armstrong Construction, Pettyjohn Builders, Signature Homes, Ironwood Homes, Cramer Homes and Miller Construction.

The featured homes will be in the 200 block of Denton Drive on the east side of Prairie Meadows Park. Six of the lots are along the lake, while one is on the opposite side of Denton.

To enter the subdivision, drive east on Old Church Road from U.S. 45 and turn right on Denton.

Visitors will be able to view the interior and exterior of each house, meet the builders and vote for the Builder's Choice award. Hours for the showcase will be 3 to 7 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekends.

Starting June 20, tickets to the showcase will be available at the gate. The price is $5 for adults, $3 for youth ages 6 to 11 years old and no charge for children under 6.

The Home Builders Association of East Central Illinois has about 200 members. The association serves a region that includes Champaign, Vermilion, Ford, Douglas, Piatt, Coles and Edgar counties.
