Local contractor creates more housing near Rapid City's new Walmart

Samuelson Development has started construction on two apartment buildings and a community center.

John Samuelson, project manager said the first building will have 99 units being a mixture of one and two bedroom apartments. It will be 88,000 square feet and house 200 people.

The second apartment building will be smaller at only 50 units and 50,000 square feet. The first apartment building along with the community center will be completed around November first; along with the second apartment building being completed around February of next year.

"You got a whole view of the hills. This will be a four story building, so you can see into the downtown area. So, you have the conveniences of Walmart and all the shopping," said Samuelson.

The complex will be called Copper Ridge Apartments. Units will range in price from $600 to $1,200.

The complex will also have an outdoor pool, theater room, and full fitness facility.
