Flooring supervisor Erwin Vallejo and receiving supervisor Rick Clayburn install flooring at the Hiouchi visitors center. Del Norte Triplicate / Bryant Anderson Parks get donations of materials and labor from Home Depot for visitors center

Thanks to Home Depot, the Redwood National and State Parks visitors center in Hiouchi received a new floor.

Representatives from the Crescent City store ripped out the centers worn out carpeting and installed wood laminate flooring on Thursday. Home Depot donated the materials and installation to give the visitors center a more cheerful look.

Theyve continued to come to the rescue when we needed assistance, said Debi White, north district manager for the Redwood Parks Association in a written statement.

Our mission is to support our partner agencies the National Park Service, California State Parks and the U.S. Forest Service who are entrusted with the care of Northern Californias public lands, but we cant do it alone.

Home Depot has been a partner with Redwood National and State Parks and the Redwood Parks Association for nearly three years. Home Depot employees volunteered their time to clean out the visitors center at Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park.

Home Depot also donated and installed new flooring at the state parks visitors center during that project, said store managerAlex Campbell. Store employees also volunteered to make some repairs to the Veterans Memorial Hall. Most recently, Home Depot worked with the Take a Bite Out of Blight program to clean up the Crescent City Cemetery last month, Campbell said.

We try to give back to the community as much as we can just to let the community know were not just here to do business with them, he said. Were here to give back and be a part of the community.

White said she is grateful for Home Depots continuing partnership and generosity. Thanks to the new flooring, visitors to the center will have a much better experience, she said.

The parks belong to everyone, White said. When great folks like the Home Depot employees step up to the plate to help, it makes a huge difference.
