Coimbatore Corporation at its urgent council meeting on Monday resolved to construct a retaining wall along the Muthannankulam. A resolution passed at the meeting said that the wall would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 72.60 lakh.

Another resolution passed at the meeting proposed to construct a 40-foot scheme road from the Avinashi Road in front of the National Model School. Following a Supreme Court directive, the corporation would acquire 20 feet land from three persons to lay the road. The corporation decided to address the problem of open defecation. A resolution passed said that the corporation would conduct various competitions for children on the ill effects of open defecation. Awareness programmes would be organised to stop the practice. The corporation allotted a few shops to the differently abled, cancelled a few rental agreements for default in payment, and decided to install LEDs on arterial roads in the city.

The corporation decided to use two acres on the Vellalore-Podanur Road to construct a bus terminus.
