Fixtures Wired for Internal & External Driver LED Tubes Add Convenience, Save Installation Time for Customers
Farmingdale, NY LaMar Lighting Company has received a UL approval for factory installation of internal and external driver LED tubes in a wide range of its surface-mount luminaires. The new capability allows LaMar to offer the latest LED technology within a broad line of luminaires quickly and cost-efficiently and streamlines the purchasing and installation process for customers.
"LaMar is always called on to quickly come up with the most cost-effective lighting solution but without compromising product quality," said Jeff Goldstein, CEO of LaMar. "In the ever-changing LED products market, we must be able to incorporate new technology quickly and deliver solutions our customers have come to expect. Collaborating with UL on the compliant, safe and effective procedure to install LED tubes in luminaires at our factory will help us do just that."
LaMar employs only high-quality LED tubes and drivers from leading manufacturers, including LED tubes made in the USA. LED T8 commercial-grade lamps are an energy-saving alternative to traditional T12 or T8 fluorescent lamps and can be factory-installed in many surface-mount luminaires.
The LED T8 lamps combine innovative optical and mechanical design features. Four-foot external driver LED tubes offer up to 2,900 lumens at 29.0W at the lamp and up to 60,000 hour rated life. Customers can select among three color temperatures (3500K, 4100K and 5000K), two- and four-foot lamp sizes and optional 0-10V dimming for external driver LED tubes. The lamps are glass-free and are suitable for damp and dry indoor locations. Fixtures wired for internal driver LED tubes are also available.
Lamps come on instantly with a full light output and stable lamp-to-lamp color, without the need for warm-up. They generate zero UV emissions and are easy to replace. Most lamps are DesignLights Consortium (DLC) qualified, and LaMar offers driver and tube warranty for up to five years.

MANCHESTER Architects this week presented designs and cost estimates for the expansion of Waddell Elementary one of several options school officials are exploring as they wrestle with a comprehensive building renovation plan.
The plan would involve expanding the school to accommodate up to 530 students and modifying the site to address traffic issues.
Education officials asked the architects to undertake the study after they heard strong community opposition to closing Waddell, which was among the recommendations made by the School Modernization and Reinvestment Team Revisited.

DYESS, Ark. (KTHV) - "The Man in Black," "Ring of Fire," and "Walk the Line." ....All of these familiar phrases are linked to the legend of Johnny Cash.
But something else links the country star to the Natural State. Cash grew up in Dyess, Arkansas and an effort to restore his childhood home nears completion.
THV11's Dustin Wilson, along with photojournalist John Young, took us to the back roads of Dyess to show us his roots.
The top hand mounted his trusty steed And rode across the plain. He said, "I'll ride until setting sun Unless I lose my rein."
Although not as clear as they once were, the poetic words of Johnny Cash won't fade from the mind of his childhood friend, A.J. Henson.
"We thought we'd died and gone to heaven," said a reminiscent Henson.
Hope came out of the gumbo soil of the town of Dyess. The childhood home of Johnny Cash still protrudes from the unsettled ground.
Henson recalled, "We would have to get under the house and jack it up and put blocks under to make it level."
Only a handful of homes remain from the Dyess colony, a federally-assisted farming community of what used to be 500 families back in the 1930s.
Henson grew up around the Cash family and remembers the music legend as "J.R."

Tthe package of justice initiatives also includes an overhaul of the probation service
The Government will discuss plans today to give victims of crime the right to accept reparation payments from the offender in question.
The objective is to provide for restorative justice within the framework of Irish criminal law.
Further justice initiatives for examination today by Ministers include new oversight procedures for the Garda Inspectorate and the Inspector of Prisons.
Also in the package is an overhaul of the probation service, which supervises offenders on the direction of the courts. The aim is to modernise the relevant law, and provide for a new inspector of the probation service.
The reparations proposal from Minister for Justice Alan Shatter would be restricted to the minor offences which are reserved for the District Court. The basic aim, however, is to reduce the overall number of custodial sentences for crimes at the lower level of the scale.
For example, the Ministers proposal would apply only to cases of minor assault and minor criminal damage where the perpetrator accepts responsibililty for committing the offences in question.
The payment of reparations would be overseen by the court, meaning the value would have to be acceptable to the judge. In doing so, the judge would be obliged to take into account the interest of the victim.
A further range of measures would modernise the execution of community sanctions by offenders.
These measures, set out in a Cabinet memorandum circulated by Mr Shatter, are included in a broader suite of legal change to be examined today by the Coalition.
