Some residents switching to well water after chemical leak - February 27, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

You can lead someone to water, but you can make her drink it.

Tim Harmon knows that all too well.

"We've had a lot of calls from Charleston people wanting to replace their city water," said Harmon, of Harmon & Sons Water Well Drilling, who's serviced five people in the affected area this past month.

Harmon said the demand for drilling spiked after the chemical leak last month. At least 10,000 gallons of crude MCHM leaked from a storage tank at Freedom Industries near Charleston, contaminating the water supply of nearly 300,000 West Virginians.

Some residents say they're ready to switch to well water after living through the crisis.

"I'll wait as long as it takes," said Angie Morris, of Campbells Creek. "And if I can't get it immediately, then I'll just continue to do what I'm doing. But I refuse to use the water."

Morris, the mother of four children, uses bottled water to cook and drink. Several buckets in her living room store water for the dogs. She even uses the water from her neighbor's well.

"I've got children to think about," Morris said. "I can't take any chances."

At one point, the family did use well water. Morris said they sealed the well about ten years ago for safety reasons. Now, she wants Harmon & Son to drill another.

Only certified drillers, approved by the state, can install wells. The process also requires a residential permit from the county health department.

Forty Fort, PA (PRWEB) February 27, 2014

ReBath Northeast brought their bathroom remodeling display to the Lackawanna Builders Association Home Show Case last weekend and was honored for having the most beautiful display at the show.

ReBath Northeasts booth featured five different options for remodeling a bathroom and two brand new acrylic bathtub surround colors. ReBath Northeast team members who worked at the booth say the new colors were very popular with people who stopped by.

As usual, safer bathroom options were a hot topic at the ReBath Northeast booth. Customers stopped by to view the beautiful walk-in shower with a seated base and a walk-in bathtub.

The Lackawanna Builders Association Home Show Case was held at the Steamtown Mall in Scranton February 21st through the 23rd. Over 30 different companies had booths at the show, including four other bathroom remodeling companies.

ReBath Northeast was presented with the award on Saturday by members of the Lackawanna Builders Associate committee. While presenting the award to a ReBath member who was working the booth, they commented on the beauty of the 1 Week Kitchens display as well. 1 Week Kitchens is a sister company to ReBath Northeast.

This is the second home show this year, in which one of Rome Enterprises companies has received an award.

ReBath Northeast will have its award winning display at several other home shows in the Northeast and Central PA areas.

Church rebuilding after storm will take time, Philippine priests told

By Dennis Sadowski Catholic News Service

PALO, Philippines (CNS) -- Since November, any time it rains the interior of the Archdiocese of Palo's Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Our Lord gets good and wet.

Without a roof, most of the church's interior is open to the skies.

Mass is celebrated at a portable altar set up under a tent in the one wing where the roof remains intact. Only a couple of hundred people can fit in when normally hundreds more fill the church for Sunday Masses.

Construction crews in early February were working as fast as they could to replace the roof, which was destroyed in Typhoon Haiyan. They had managed to rebuild the structure above the main altar, which still must be refurbished. Once the roof is completed, work will begin on the interior.

When the typhoon hit, the cathedral had just undergone a full renovation as part of the archdiocese's yearlong 75th anniversary celebration. Cardinal Luis Tagle of Manila joined Palo Archbishop John Du to close the celebration Nov. 28 with Mass. A downpour occurred during the liturgy, bringing tears to many worshippers huddled under umbrellas and a tarp strung from wall to wall.

The cathedral is one of dozens of churches, missions and chapels in nine dioceses and archdioceses seriously damaged or destroyed by the typhoon when it slammed the Visayas region of the central Philippines with 195-mile-an-hour winds and an unprecedented storm surge Nov. 8.

At historic Santo Nino Church in Tacloban, Mass is celebrated, rain or shine. A 15-minute rainstorm as Mass began one afternoon in early February sent worshippers searching for pews free from dripping water and left large puddles of water throughout the church.
