Beginning Friday, AT&T will offer its residential security and smart home packages in four additional US cities.

AT&T unveiled its Digital Life home security and automation service back in 2013. At that time it was available in just 15 US cities, but AT&T has been steadily introducing its product to new markets. Today, AT&T announced that Digital Life will make its way to Albany, N.Y.; Dayton, Ohio; Grand Rapids, Mich.; and Wichita, Kan. on Friday, February 21, which will bump the tally up to 63 markets.
Kevin Petersen, president of Digital Life, Inc., comments on this expansion in the official press release: "This year is going to be exciting for AT&T Digital Life and the connected home industry. We're going to expand our footprint and add features to the platform while being aggressive in the market to show customers how convenient it is to control your home with our easy-to-use technology."
We've seen a lot of DIY home security and automation products up to this point, so it will be interesting to see how service-based plans from more established companies impact the smart home growth trend. But this does seem like good news for smart home fans; it seems to confirm that Digital Life has been successful enough for AT&T to expand its service.
