Brighton metal band will take new album 'Daybreaker' out on the road

Architects have announced a full UK tour for later this year.
The Brighton metal band, who released their fifth album 'Daybreaker' last month, will play seven shows in mid-November.
The tour kicks off at Southampton Mo Club on November 9 and runs until November 16 when the band headline Nottingham Rock City. The run also includes gigs in Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow and Newcastle. Support on the tour will come from Deez Nuts, The Acacia Strain and Bury Tomorrow.
Speaking to NME previously about 'Daybreaker' and how it moves on from their fourth album 'The Here And Now', guitarist Tom Searle said: "Some people might say we've regressed, but I think we've found our enthusiasm for playing heavy music again. I'm excited again by what I've come up with on guitar and lyrically it's much more political and less personal."
He continued: "I wanted to go back to being heavier and I think we've got our balls back. We're not a band that should be on daytime radio and even when we got that stuff, it felt a bit uncomfortable. I think we were out of our comfort zone and the shoe didn't fit."
You can watch the video for the band's recent single 'Devil's Island' by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking.

NEW YORK, June 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects announced that The Avenue, its mixed-use development in Washington, D.C., is one of 29 finalists for the Urban Land Institute's Global Awards for Excellence.
(Photo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20120627/NE31318 )
Widely recognized as the land use industry's most prestigious awards program, the competition rewards real estate developments for best practices in design, construction, economics, planning and management. ULI selected finalists from nearly 200 international entries. Up to 14 finalists will win awards.
Developed by Boston Properties, The Avenue is an urban town center that connects George Washington University to the Foggy Bottom and West End neighborhoods. Adjacent to Washington Circle, the 1.4 million-square-foot development includes a 12-story apartment building and a 10-story, LEED Gold-rated office building. Shops, restaurants, and a Whole Foods grocery store create a vibrant shopping street.
The Avenue establishes a landscaped public courtyard with flowering trees at the center of the 2.6-acre site. This garden is made possible by submerging parking and a full-sized loading dock below grade. A water feature with aquatic plantings anchors the courtyard and provides stormwater management by collecting rainwater for irrigation.
Along Pennsylvania Avenue, a three-story glass-fronted atrium joins the office building's two towers. The lobby's curved travertine walls define a through-building pedestrian passage. A grand two-story granite lobby connects the two towers of the apartment building -- the west tower, with a rooftop pool, and the east, which has a rooftop deck. The 335-unit building is set back from the street, creating a lively pedestrian plaza adjacent to sidewalk dining, shops and the Metro station.
Engineering News-Record chose The Avenue for its "Best of the Best" list. The Washington Business Journal named the project "Deal of the Year" for new office and multi-family development.
About Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects Founded in 1977 and led by Cesar Pelli, Fred Clarke, and Rafael Pelli, Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects has designed some of the world's most recognizable buildings, including the World Financial Center in New York, the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, and the International Finance Centre in Hong Kong. Mesa's Fiesta District might as well be the Chernobyl of Valley retail areas.
With the exception of Fiesta Mall itself, most of the centers near Alma School Road and Southern Avenue are either dead or nearly so, relics of a boom that flickered and then died as shoppers fled to newer, glitzier venues.
Mesa has fought for years to revive the area, though nobody at City Hall thinks it ever will return as a retail mecca. The thinking now is urban mixed-use, with new buildings hewing to design standards that Mesa laid down several years ago but seldom used.
Now, the city itself is stepping up to lead the way.
It broke ground Tuesday for an ultramodern police substation that not only will put people in the neighborhood but, the city hopes, showcase the neighborhood's potential.
The site, a barren patch of dirt southeast of the Bank of America tower, will be teeming with construction workers for the next year.
"This is a tremendous step in our effort to improve the Fiesta District," said Councilman Dennis Kavanaugh, who represents the area. "We see the Fiesta District on the road to revitalization."
That a police station would occupy the site was the last thing anyone dreamed of six years ago.
Back then, a Chicago developer was wowing City Hall with promises of a glitzy high-rise called Fiesta Towers, two buildings of 19 stories each and two with 10 stories, that would transform southwest Mesa.

Construction on a hotel and retail development on Elmore Avenue should start by the end of the year, while another motel is being planned for northeast Davenport near Trinity Bettendorf.
Several letters of intent have been received and three leases are in various phases of completion for retailers for what is expected to be about 85,000 square feet of space in the Elmore Avenue project, Heart of America Group president Mike Whalen said Tuesday. A lead tenant has committed.
There just arent many new construction projects being built in retail across the country, so I am pretty excited about it, Whalen said. We want to be able to start construction this year, so we are putting pressure on folks to move faster than they usually do in the retail arena.
He declined to identify any of the retailers his company is in talks with.
I believe it wont be in the too distant future we can say heres who, Whalen said.
Along with the retail space, the $28 million project also includes a hotel with 100 to 120 rooms.
Last week, Davenports plan and zone commission approved the development plan for a four-story, 102-room extended-stay motel on 3.81 acres at the intersection of Market Square Circle and Progress Drive, located west of Utica Ridge Road between Rave Cinemas and the Trinity Bettendorf hospital.
The project is expected to go in front of the Davenport City Council late next month.
The cost of the motel project was unavailable Tuesday. Jeff Lamont of Davenport Lodging Group, Aberdeen, S.D., who submitted the development plan, couldnt be reached for further comment about the project.
Lamonts development group hasnt submitted any requests to the city for financial assistance.

MORGAN CITY, LA (WAFB) -
A fire at the Joseph J. Cefalu Sr Municipal Steam Plant in Morgan City knocked out power to the majority of the city Tuesday evening, but there are signs it could be restored Wednesday.
Officials initially said some residents could start getting their electricity back around 6 a.m., but a problem has pushed their estimates back to the afternoon.
St. Mary Parish is opening shelters to give people in Morgan City relief from the heat. The Morgan City Municipal Auditorium will be open for use to escape the heat for a short time. There will be NO food or water provided. Those who need a ride to the shelter can call 337-828-5703.
Officials said crews inspecting the damages from the explosion found them to be more extensive than their preliminary evaluation.
The plan is to start testing circuits when a minimal load is secured at the plant. Customers should be aware if their power turns on and off again it is probably due to the testing.
Officials ask people to please not contact the city to report that outage again.
Crews have managed to power up generators to operate the sewer and water functions. The city asks for people to continue to minimize their water use for things like toilets, tubs, sinks, etc. Officials said their drinking water is not impacted.
Mayor Tim Matte declared a state of emergency and asked for a dusk to dawn curfew.
A transformer at the plant caught fire around 6 p.m. Firefighters battled the fire for an hour before bringing it under control.

Wednesday, Jun 27, 2012 12:23 PM UTC The GOP has no Obamacare replacement; AG targets dark money; incumbents survive; and other top Tuesday stories By Alex Seitz-Wald FILE - This June 20, 2012, file photo shows a view of the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington. Saving its biggest case for last, the Supreme Court is expected to announce its verdict Thursday, June 28, 2012, on President Barack Obamas health care law. The outcome is likely to be a factor in the presidential campaign and help define John Roberts legacy as chief justice. But the courts ruling almost certainly will not be the last word on Americas tangled efforts to address health care woes. The problems of high medical costs, widespread waste and tens of millions of people without insurance will require Congress and the president to keep looking for answers, whether or not the Affordable Care Act passes the test of constitutionality. (AP Photo/Alex Brandon, File) (Credit: AP)
The GOPs Obamacare replacement plan: Nada:If the Supreme Court strikes down the Affordable Care Acttomorrow, House Republicanshave nothing prepared to replace it with. The GOP wont rush to pass anything in its place, Politico reports, and will instead let legislation slowly wind its way through committees and get debated, dissected and amended. This go-slow approach is a shift from where the party was a few weeks ago. Earlier this month, top GOP officials were privately deliberating what legislation they would push to fill the gap caused by a full strike-down of Obamas healthcare law. Corralling lawmakers behind hefty legislative proposals in an election year would also be a tough task.
Democrats, meanwhile, are a bit farther along. We have differentproposed draftsfor different contingencies, saidSenatorTom Harkin, the chairman of the HealthCommittee.
AG goes after big political spenders: New YorkAttorney GeneralEric T. Schneiderman, who has become a bit of a progressive hero for his tough action against banks, has begun investigating contributions to tax-exempt groups that are heavily involved in political campaigns, focusing on a case involving theU.S. Chamber of Commerce, which has been one of the largest outside groups seeking to influence recent elections but is not required to disclose its donors. The New York Times reports: Mr. Schneiderman issued a wide-ranging subpoena on Tuesday to executives at a foundation affiliated with the chamber, seeking e-mails, bank records and other documents to determine whether the foundation illegally funneled $18 million to the chamber for political and lobbying activities, according to people with knowledge of the investigation.
Justices health struggles could influence thinking: The HillsElise Viebeck notes that the personal medical histories of the Supreme Courts nine justices may influence their thinking on the Affordable Care Act. While much of their medical record is private, some emergencies, such as Cheif Justice John Roberts seizure in 2007, have been reported in the press. Justices live in society and are no doubt affected by their own life experiences, said George Washington University Professor Paul Wahlbeck. Their [healthcare experiences] might actually feed into their policy preferences on what is good law and what is good public policy. That could, in turn, shape their judicial views.
Freedom-lover Rand Paul hates DC freedom:Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul talks a big game on the importance of states rights and liberty, but he thwarted an effort to give the 600,000disenfranchisedresidents of the District of Columbia a modicum of self-control yesterday. Washington, DC currently doesnt fully control its own budget, andPaul killed a bill designed to do just thatby attaching a slew of unrelated amendments on gun control, abortion and labor unions. DC mayor Vincent Gray called on fellow Democrats to pull support from the measure, saying, Senator Pauls proposed amendments are an insult to the people of our city. Paul explained his motivations:We dont have [control] over the states, but we do for D.C.
Incumbents okay: Sen. Orrin Hatch, a Republican from Utah, survived his Republican primary last night against one of the toughestchallengershes faced in more than three decades in theSenate. Tea Party groups and super PACs had spent heavily to defeat Hatch.
Meanwhile, in New York City, embattledDemocraticRep.Charles Rangelfended off four challengersto win a nomination (and thus likely a general election win) for a 22nd term in Congress. Rangel was censured in 2010 after the House Ethics Committee found him guilty of 11 counts of ethical violations, including failure to pay taxes, improper solicitation of donations and failure to report his personal income accurately.

Speaking with550-KFYI, Brewer slammed the Obama administrations decision to cut the state out of a federal immigration programon the same day the Supreme Court upheld a key provision of Arizonas landmark immigration law.

A deeper look at Hong Kong's new chief executive
Leung Chun-ying is due to take office as Hong Kongs chief executive Sunday, anointed by Chinese President Hu Jintao, just at the time Tropical Storm Doksuri appears to be scheduled to arrive and head directly up the Pearl River.
There is more than one storm brewing. Hu has expressed confidence in Leung despite the fact that the incoming official is mired in controversy after the Chinese-language Ming Pao Daily reported last week that Leungs residence on Victoria Peak, the lofty enclave for the rich, powerful and famous, featured an illegal glass canopy extension. Buildings Department inspectors found five other violations. The rest of Hong Kongs press has taken up the chase although Leungs supporters say the violations are relatively minor and were added to the place before he bought it 10 years ago.
However, what the revelations do is add to concerns that go beyond the violations in themselves. Leung so far has shrugged off allegations of being a closet communist, of conflict of interest in the West Kowloon design selection process, of urging riot police action on the 2003 public rally against a proposed draconian security bill that brought an estimated half million protesters onto the streets, of taking instructions from the united front plotters at the China Liaison Office and now of violating the buildings code.
Much of this has slid off without sticking -- so far. Conducting a media pack through his HK$500 million residence, Leung explained that when he bought the twin-lot property, he had an authorized person inspect it for compliance with buildings regulations. He promised to rectify the infringements immediately.
Leung talks the talk
There is only one law for all in Hong Kong, rich or poor, Leung said on Newsline, the ATV interview program hosted by Michael Chugani last Sunday. He made the comment in the context that the same rule should apply to himself and to the New Territories villagers who claim they should be exempt.
Leung has the ability to say the right things even when caught with his pants down. In politics that is a rare gift. Comparisons with the Teflon President Bill Clinton, who could look people in the eye and lie with a straight face, are not amiss.
Leung rarely gets flustered in public. He takes it all in stride like a hardened politician. He will not be scuppered. He puts on the long-suffering look of the misunderstood. Colleagues who have worked for decades with him have difficulty penetrating his inscrutable personality. Nobody really knows him. The old establishment of senior civil servants, property tycoons and university academics have major reservations.
